Thanksgiving is a time for remembering all the ways we are lucky and blessed in this life. It’s a time to be grateful and a time to gather. But with all the holiday travel and Black Friday sales, it can sometimes be easy to forget that Thanksgiving is also a time for giving back.

This year on Thanksgiving morning, 1,750 people made that their holiday priority, gathering in the early morning cold at Eastbay’s headquarters in Wausau’s River District. Why? For the Turkey Trot 5K, of course.

There are a lot of great reasons to run or walk Eastbay’s Turkey Trot, from physical fitness, to family bonding, to killer costumes. But the number one reason hits a little closer to home. Every year, the Turkey Trot delivers all registration fees, as well as donated food to the Marathon County Hunger Coalition. This year, Eastbay’s contribution totaled $52,380 and 1,747 pounds of food donations.

The 8th Annual Turkey Trot set a few records. 2017 saw 250 more participants than last year and raised over $9,000 more. Everyone at Eastbay could not be more proud or thankful for the amazing turnout from the Marathon County community or the generous spirit of the people we work and live with. These donations will help stock food pantries and support those in need throughout 2018.

To all those who donated and participated: thank you. We hope to see you all again next year, so we can set new records and wear even crazier costumes.  Here are some of the best of 2017:
